URDU CHOIR

God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.

ministry

St. Anthony’s Urdu choir is a voluntary choir of 22 singers covering the voice parts of Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass.

The choir sings at the traditional 10.30am church service every Sunday as well as at special services such as Good Friday, Easter and Christmas. We also participate in major Services such as events like the Bible Society feast which is held annually at St. Anthony’s Church.

Sunday Services

Choir participation in the Sunday morning service each week involves the presentation of an introit at the start of the service. Where possible the introit and anthem are chosen to reflect the message set out in the lectionary of the day, thus ensuring that the choir music is an integral part of the church service.

Support and enhancement of the congregational singing of hymns is of paramount importance and involves the choir singing in both unison and four-part harmony, as well as the addition of a descant where appropriate.

ST ANTHONY’S URDU CHOIR INFORMATION

Highlights of the Choir Year are the annual Lessons and Carols Service on the third Sunday in December each year, the Christmas Vigil Service at 11.00pm on 24th December, the Good Friday service at 12pm and the Easter Vigil (with candlelight procession) at 11:30pm

The choir is available to sing at weddings for a minimal fee, this being the only source of revenue for the purchase and maintenance of music, dry-cleaning of choir gowns and covering of all other general expenses.
